Advanced Fashion Design Course

ADVANCED FASHION DESIGN

Students learn world-class fashion design
techniques and skills.
  • Daytime
  • 4 year course

01.MEJIRO is the only school where you can study both woven and knit fabrics starting in your first year (elective starting in the third year).

By the end of the second year, students will have thoroughly mastered the fundamentals of both fields, allowing them to discover their strengths and passions. Starting in the third year, students will split into the “Woven Fabric Course” and the “Knitwear Course” to further deepen their expertise in their respective specializations. In the Woven Fabric Course, students will focus on patternmaking and sewing techniques to learn how to create three-dimensional silhouettes and produce garments of the highest quality. In the Knit Course, students utilize the unique textures created by yarn and knitting techniques to master the use of specialized knitting machines. Furthermore, they study design and programming to develop flexible and highly creative expression.

02.Acquire Professional-Level Skills in Four Years.

In addition to apparel techniques using woven and knit fabrics, the Craft Design program covers the entire process—from design to production—of accessories such as bags, shoes, and rings. At fashion shows, you’ll coordinate outfits and accessories as a complete ensemble to express your own artistic vision.

The perfect environment for aspiring designers! We actively participate in various competitions, allowing you to hone your design skills while still in school. Students take on challenges in each department—such as creating pieces using specialty materials or crafting design works—and gain hands-on experience in producing professional-quality designs.
*We have a track record of winning awards, including the Next Fashion Designer of Tokyo and the YKK Fastening Award.

03.Students gain business knowledge for selling their own clothing.

Students acquire practical knowledge and techniques for developing their own brands of clothing into businesses, such as negotiating skills and import and export practices for stocking materials smoothly, domestically and internationally. Moreover, the substantial curriculum has students establish their own branding and produce designs for every season of the year, working one on one with the top-rate instructors guiding them.

04.Advanced diplomas may also be acquired, in addition to fashion-related qualifications.

Along with the fashion-related qualifications constituted by the second level of the Pattern Making Skill Test and the Fashion Business Proficiency Test, students can also acquire advanced diplomas granted to those who have completed a four-year course of study at a vocational school.
